Our Story
The Police Retirees of Ontario was founded in 1990 and Incorporated on August 1, 1990, by a group of retired police officers for the purpose of establishing an organization which would be dedicated to serving an exclusive membership restricted to retired law enforcement personnel of every rank and classification, their spouses, the widow and widowers of both active and retired law enforcement personnel.
P.R.O. is a non-profit corporation without share capital and has been so registered with the Government of Ontario since December of 1992. The organization is administered by an elected Board of Directors representing every rank and classification in law enforcement, who serve without remuneration either in the form of salary or honourarium.
P.R.O. is dedicated to serving and protecting the rights and interests of all police retirees, their spouses and the widows and widowers of all active and retired police personnel. P.R.O. supports the Police Services of Ontario and financially supports many and varied child and children oriented causes and charities throughout Ontario.
To enable P.R.O. to fulfill its obligations to its membership, and ensure compliance with its aims and objectives, the Corporation utilizes the services of Xentel DM Incorporated.
Police Retirees of Ontario donates many thousands of dollars to Ontario charities and particularly children's charities each year.
