Why Be a Member
For 14 years, the Police Retirees of Ontario has seen its membership roster grow to more than 7,000 members, and has been able to make significant contributions to many child-oriented charities across Ontario.
By joining the Police Retirees of Ontario, you will:
- receive a membership card entitling you to discounts from various sponsors.
- have the opportunity to ask pertinent questions about any matter of concern regarding your retirement either through phone, fax, letter mail, or web site.
- have the opportunity to meet new, former law enforcement people through P.R.O.’s upcoming member events like the Annual General Meeting, luncheons, or golf tournaments.
Membership Dues
Annual membership dues are $10.00 per member. The membership year extends from May 1st of one year until April 30th of the next year.
The sole purpose of assessing membership dues is to partially assist the Corporation with the costs of providing P.R.O. members with annual membership cards, lapel pins and various other items available to members, while assisting with the mailing costs associated with membership correspondence and packaging.
Those who qualify to register for membership include:
(a) Retired Municipal, Provincial and Federal Law Enforcement Personnel of every rank and classification who performed their service within, or who resident, within the Province of Ontario.
(b) The Spouses of Retired Municipal, Provincial Law Enforcement Personnel of every Rank and Classification who performed their services within or who reside within the Province of Ontario.
(c) The Widows and Widowers of both Active and Retired Law Enforcement Personnel of every Rank and Classification who performed their services within or who resided within the Province of Ontario.
All of the foregoing persons can register to become full-fledged members of P.R.O. and are entitled to enjoy complete membership privileges, including voice, vote and the right to seek and accept nomination to the Board of Directors and to occupy any executive position when elected thereto providing they are paid up members of the Corporation in good standing.
Membership in P.R.O. includes Retirees from Law Enforcement extending from Cornwall in the south-east to Windsor in the south-west, to Kenora in the north-west to Ottawa-Carleton in the north-east to Toronto in the south to Timmins in the north and many points in between and includes the O.P.P., the R.C.M.P. and other Provincial and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
