Aims & Objectives
The following “Aims and Objectives” were first established in August of 1990 and continue to remain in full force today. These include:
a) To serve and protect the rights, interests and concerns of retired law enforcement personnel of every rank and classification, their respective spouses and the widows and widowers of both active and retired law enforcement personnel of every rank and classification.
(b) To continue to serve various Ontario communities by assisting and supporting, whenever and wherever possible, child and children oriented causes and charities throughout Ontario.
(c) To support the Law Enforcement Services of Ontario, whenever and wherever possible, and to the best of the Corporation's ability.
The Corporation has also been able to serve and protect the rights, interests and concerns of its members in many ways not the least of which are:
(a) Representing the corporation at OMERS Board Consultation Meetings since 1995 for the purpose of improving the pension benefits of retirees, widows, widowers and the dependent children of OMERS pensioners.
(b) Employing the services of Legal Counsel for the purpose of ensuring that retirees and their families share in the OMERS surplus pension fund assets.
(c) Providing Legal Counsel to Waterloo Regional Police Retirees for the purpose of proceeding to the Supreme Court of Ontario and the Ontario Court of Appeal involving a civil action instituted by this Corporation seeking a share of the OMERS surplus pension funds enjoyed by the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board, the Waterloo Regional Police Association and the Waterloo Regional Police Seniors Officers' Association.
