Annual General Meeting

The Police Retirees of Ontario Inc. Annual General Meeting is a chance for members of the Police Retirees of Ontario to get together to conduct business, and of course, enjoy some social interaction.

This years Police Retirees Annual General Meeting will take place in
June, 2010 at the
Toronto Police Association Building,
180 Yorkland Blvd., Toronto, ON M2J 1R5.

The meet and greet will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Members will be receiving their memberships and AGM information in the next couple of weeks.

The Registration Fee for the Corporation's Annual General Meeting is $15.00 per member, or $25.00 per member couple.

A member couple is defined as:
i) a police personnel retired member and his or her spouse or companion;
ii) a widow, or widower, of a police personnel retired or active member, and the widow or widower's spouse or companion.

A Special Annual General Meeting Notice containing the date, time, location and directions to the A.G.M., together with an Annual General Meeting Registration Fee card and a self-addressed envelope, will be mailed to all of the Corporation's Members-In-Good-Standing at least four weeks prior to the event.

Any members intending to be out of the province prior to the A.G.M. and who plan to attend the A.G.M. should indicate their intentions to the Corporation prior to leaving Ontario or whenever they are away from their regular residential address which they have filed with P.R.O..

The meeting will encompass presentations from the Board of Directors who will report on the Corporation’s activities and business transactions. Members in attendance at the A.G.M. will receive copies of the Corporation's Annual Report, Director's Reports, Auditor's Report, as well as other relevant documents.

A members' question and answer session will also be convened to cover matters of interest and concern. Immediately following this, nominations for and election to the Board of Directors for the current membership year will be conducted.

Those persons who have been Members-In-Good-Standing for at least one year are eligible to be nominated and are entitled to accept nominations for election to the Corporation's Board of Directors for the upcoming Membership Year.

At the conclusion of the morning business session, members will enjoy a scrumptious hot and cold, all you can eat luncheon buffet with all the trimmings.

For those who aren’t currently members but wish to become part of the Corporation, can do so upon meeting the criteria outlined below, and completing the registration form.

 

Eligibility to join the Corporation's membership is restricted to:

i) Retired police personnel of every rank and classification from every Municipal, Provincial, State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency who have served within or who reside within the Province of Ontario;

ii) The spouses or companions of retired police personnel;

iii) The widows or widowers of both active and retired police personnel.

 

Annual Dues of the Corporation are $10.00 per member, per membership year, and must be paid on or before May 1 of each year. The Corporation's membership year commences on May 1st each year and concludes on April 30 of the immediately succeeding year.
